Physical and Mental Health

Physical and mental health is the balance of one’s well-being. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated understands that physical and mental health affects mood, motivation, energy level and other tasks as well as activities of daily life. It is important to design and implement programs that impact these in a positive manner.  ASAC’s Physical and Mental Health Committee has a goal to keep Sorors Fit and Fabulous. We will work diligently to educate our chapter members and community about health-related topics by providing enriching programming.

Goals:

  • Provide preventative information for physical and mental health issues that affect our communities
  • Increase awareness of health and healthcare disparities
  • Provide awareness of community and health issues
  • Address mental health through webinars, dialogues, and support group resources
  • Engage in community-based activities that facilitate behavior change and improve physical and mental health.
  • Provide healthier focused menus and recipes, along with the associated health benefits

We will continuously strive to raise awareness to address the importance of living a healthy lifestyle not only physically, but mentally as well. Two of our signature programs, Mental Health Mondays and First Friday Fitness, are specifically designed to promote healthy living for our members and people in our service area and raise awareness on mental health and wellness concerns.

Additional Programs include:

  • Golf Lessons in conjunction with Economic Development
  • Virtual Runs
  • Wellness Fitness Tips
